Die 444 besten Singles der 1990er Jahre

Zunächst mal ein kleiner Prolog: Es war eine Heidenarbeit, aber es war auch ein Riesenspaß. Ich wollte ursprünglich die Top100 erstellen, aber bei der Recherche sind mir dann so viele liebgewonnene und einige vollkommen zu Unrecht vergessene Lieder in die Hände gekommen, dass ich die Charts auf 444 Plätze ausgedehnt habe.

Natürlich ist es eine ganz individuelle Hitparade, und natürlich steht nur ein Lied an der richtigen Stelle (nämlich die Nummer 1), dennoch möchte ich die Kriterien ein wenig klar machen. Gewertet wurden nur Lieder, die zwischen dem 1. Januar 1990 und dem 31. Dezember 1999 in Deutschland, England oder den USA als Single erschienen sind. Bei der Bewertung wurde nur der jeweilige Song berücksichtigt, B-Seiten wurden außer Acht gelassen.

Neben allgemeiner Klasse galt es auch noch, spezielle Singles-Eigenschaften zu erfüllen: Energie, Aktualität, Prägnanz, Arschtreten und so. Als Resultat lässt sich zunächst sagen, dass die Nineties musikalisch durchaus ein gutes Jahrzehnt waren. Das Jahrzehnt des BritPop, des HipHop, der Coverversionen und der Frauen. So war zumindest mein Eindruck. Und hier sind sie nun, die 444 besten Singles der 1990er Jahre:
